We can prevent the next famine, if we act now

More than 15 million people across Somalia, Ethiopia, and Kenya are facing life-threatening hunger, as the Horn of Africa faces its worst drought in 40 years.

Catastrophic famine is a very real threat. Alarm bells have been ringing for months, but world leaders have been too slow to respond.

This year, the situation is as bad as 2011, when delayed action on drought resulted in over 260,000 deaths in Somalia from a famine.

We know what works. In 2016, the UK played a key role in mobilising timely efforts that ultimately prevented another famine in Somalia.

We cannot afford to waste time.

Please write to Minister Vicky Ford, the Minister responsible for the UK Government’s efforts in Africa, to act now.

Early action will prevent famine, save lives, and help millions to cope with this crisis.

No recent activity.
